    Report

  • 90 Pages
  • December 2018
  • Region: Global
  • Primary Research Group
  • ID: 4721988

The study presents data & commentary from 11 college and university medical school and other healthcare program libraries about their information literacy policies and practices.  The report discusses information literacy graduation and other requirements, the number and type of courses offered, as well as trends in instruction in the form of courses, videos, one-on-one and other forms of instruction.   The report also presents data on the number and type of instructors that teach information literacy including info on adjuncts, tenured faculty and others.  Study participants identify their best attended workshops, the subjects most in demand by patrons, and the future plans of their libraries in info literacy. The study also pinpoints participants perception of the importance or usefulness of training on certain key healthcare databases and eBook collections.  Specific data is provided on products such as DynaMed, PubMed, CINAHL, PsycINFO and many others.

Just a few of the 90-page report’s many findings are that:

  • Across the entire sample, 63.64% of respondents reported sending librarians to a conference on information searching or information literacy.
  • 36.36% of all respondents indicated that PsycINFO training is required and considered either very important or useful in information literacy training.
  • 9.09% of survey respondents offer training in using bibliometric or altmetrics tools.
