Airline alliances are cooperative agreements between airlines that allow them to offer customers a wider range of destinations and services than any single airline could provide. Alliances allow airlines to share resources, such as frequent flyer programs, airport lounges, and code-sharing agreements. These agreements also allow airlines to reduce costs by sharing aircraft, personnel, and other resources. Alliances also provide customers with more options when booking flights, as they can choose from a variety of airlines within the alliance. The three major airline alliances are Star Alliance, SkyTeam, and Oneworld. Star Alliance is the largest, with 28 member airlines, including Air Canada, Lufthansa, and United Airlines. SkyTeam is the second largest, with 20 member airlines, including Delta Air Lines, KLM, and Air France. Oneworld is the smallest, with 14 member airlines, including American Airlines, British Airways, and Cathay Pacific. Show Less Read more
