The Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is a federal-state partnership that provides health insurance coverage to children in families with incomes that are too high to qualify for Medicaid, but too low to afford private health insurance. CHIP is administered by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and is jointly funded by the federal government and participating states. CHIP provides comprehensive health coverage, including preventive care, doctor visits, hospital stays, immunizations, vision and hearing screenings, and dental care.
CHIP is designed to provide health insurance coverage to children in families who may not be able to afford private health insurance. It is also intended to reduce the number of uninsured children in the United States. CHIP is available in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. territories.
Some companies in the CHIP market include UnitedHealthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, Humana, and Anthem. Show Less Read more
