The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) is a market-based mechanism that allows industrialized countries to invest in projects that reduce emissions in developing countries. It is one of the three flexible mechanisms established under the Kyoto Protocol to help industrialized countries meet their emissions reduction targets. The CDM enables industrialized countries to invest in projects that reduce emissions in developing countries, while earning Certified Emission Reduction (CER) credits. These credits can then be used to meet their emissions reduction targets. The CDM also provides an incentive for developing countries to reduce emissions, as they can earn revenue from the sale of CERs.
Companies in the CDM market include EcoSecurities, Climate Change Capital, and Carbon Planet. Show Less Read more
