Clevudine is an antiviral drug used to treat chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. It is a nucleoside analogue, which works by blocking the activity of the virus in the body. Clevudine is approved for use in adults and children over the age of 12 in many countries, including the United States, Japan, and South Korea. It is usually taken once daily as a tablet or liquid. Clevudine is one of several drugs used to treat chronic HBV infection, a common infectious disease. Other drugs used to treat chronic HBV infection include entecavir, tenofovir, and lamivudine. Clevudine is generally used in combination with other drugs, such as pegylated interferon, to maximize its effectiveness. Clevudine is available in generic form and is also sold under the brand name Levovir. It is manufactured by several pharmaceutical companies, including Mylan, Teva Pharmaceuticals, and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories. Show Less Read more
