Epidiolex is a pharmaceutical drug used to treat certain types of epilepsy. It is the first FDA-approved drug derived from cannabidiol (CBD), a component of the cannabis plant. Epidiolex is used to treat two rare and severe forms of epilepsy, Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome, in patients two years of age and older. It is classified as a central nervous system (CNS) drug, which are drugs that act on the brain and spinal cord to treat neurological disorders. Epidiolex is manufactured by GW Pharmaceuticals, a British biopharmaceutical company. It is distributed in the United States by Greenwich Biosciences, a subsidiary of GW Pharmaceuticals.
