Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) is a type of electrical switchgear used in high voltage applications. It is a compact metal encapsulated switchgear consisting of high-voltage components such as circuit breakers, isolators, earth switches, and instrument transformers, which are all enclosed in a sealed environment with sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) gas as the insulating medium.
