Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a rating system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) to evaluate the environmental performance of buildings and neighborhoods. It is the most widely used green building rating system in the world, and is used by architects, urban planners, and other professionals to assess the sustainability of a building or neighborhood. LEED certification is based on a points system, with points awarded for meeting certain criteria in the areas of energy efficiency, water conservation, materials selection, indoor environmental quality, and innovation.
LEED has become an important tool for architects and urban planners, as it provides a framework for designing and constructing buildings and neighborhoods that are more sustainable and energy efficient. It also encourages the use of green building materials and technologies, and encourages the development of green infrastructure.
Companies in the LEED market include Autodesk, Ecobuild, Green Building Solutions, Green Building Technologies, Green Building Council, and LEED Certification Services. Show Less Read more
