Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) is a synthetic aromatic compound used as a plastic additive in the production of polyester fibers and resins. It is a key component of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), a widely used plastic resin. PTA is produced from petroleum-derived feedstocks such as naphtha and is used in the manufacture of polyester fibers, films, and bottles. It is also used in the production of polyester resins for coatings, adhesives, and laminates. PTA is also used in the production of polyurethane foam, polycarbonate, and other polymers.
PTA is a highly competitive market, with many large and small players. Major producers include Indorama Ventures, Reliance Industries, SABIC, and Sinopec. Other notable players include China National Petroleum Corporation, Mitsubishi Chemical, and Toray Industries. Show Less Read more
