Retinopathy is a medical condition that affects the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye. It is a leading cause of blindness and visual impairment worldwide. Optical treatments for retinopathy include laser photocoagulation, intravitreal injections, and vitrectomy. Laser photocoagulation is used to reduce the risk of vision loss by sealing off leaking blood vessels in the retina. Intravitreal injections are used to deliver medications directly to the retina to reduce swelling and inflammation. Vitrectomy is a surgical procedure used to remove scar tissue and other debris from the vitreous cavity.
Companies in the retinopathy market include Alcon, Allergan, Bausch + Lomb, Carl Zeiss Meditec, Ellex, Heidelberg Engineering, Nidek, Optos, Topcon, and Zeiss. Show Less Read more
