Solithromycin is an antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It belongs to the macrolide class of antibiotics, which are used to treat infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria. Solithromycin is a semi-synthetic derivative of erythromycin, and is used to treat respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and sexually transmitted infections. It is also used to treat infections caused by atypical bacteria, such as Mycoplasma and Chlamydia. Solithromycin has a broad spectrum of activity, and is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It is generally well-tolerated, with few side effects.
Solithromycin is available in both oral and intravenous formulations. It is approved for use in the United States, Europe, and other countries. It is marketed by several pharmaceutical companies, including Merck, Pfizer, and Allergan. Show Less Read more
