Europe data monetization market is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 6.19% to reach US$104.072 billion by 2028 from US$68.356 billion in 2021.

Data monetization produces quantifiable economic benefits by utilizing the information sources present. Direct, external, and indirect internal procedures are used to complete the monetization process. The Europe data monetization market's development is primarily driven by the expanding use of cloud computing, significant investments in data centers made by regionally important firms, and an increase in artificial intelligence (AI) use in data processing. The industry is expanding due to rising public awareness of the potential advantages of data monetization.

Many large technology companies are launching several data centers across Europe, which is expected to fuel the data monetization market growth.

The European Commission predicted that by 2030, all European enterprises will have adopted cloud computing services or comparable technology. American IT companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google dominate the European cloud computing business. By 2023, EMEA will spend 131 billion USD on public cloud services. Over the next few years, about 100 new data center projects are predicted to be unveiled. Google, for instance, expanded its footprint on the continent by opening cloud data centers in Madrid. The new company meets the many industries of Madrid with improved cloud services, low-latency transfers, better storage, and computing, offering the region a much-needed boost in data protection and over-the-air enterprise demands.

Further, the data center company DigiPlex recently announced the opening of its second facility in the Lillestrom neighborhood of Fetsund. To hasten the adoption of cloud computing in Poland, Google has partnered with Poland's Domestic Cloud Provider (DCP) and made plans to establish a new cloud region there. Vantage acquired Etix to enable the delivery of wholesale data center capacity and support business clients' expansion in Frankfurt.

Germany is expected to witness robust growth during the projected period.

There are over 125 active colocation data centers in Germany. The nation's need for data centers has greatly increased with the deployment of 5G and telecom. For instance, Deutsche Telekom installed over 63,000 antennae in Germany in February 2022, reaching over 90% of the nation's population with 5G services. To assist the growth of the digital infrastructure sector, Germany has attracted many data center-building companies. For instance, CyrusOne intended to build a fifth building in Frankfurt as part of a 90 MW expansion.

Market Developments:

  • In February 2023, the digital infrastructure provider Equinix constructed its data center near Barcelona; It is an important subsea hub and a significant location for data links between Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
  • In January 2023, Microsoft, Equinix, Rai Way, Data4, STACK Infrastructure, Digital Reality, Vantage Data Centres, and CBRE Data Centres became the founder of the Italian Data Centre Association (IDA). The association launched research and evangelizing initiatives to foster cooperation with all participants and organizations in the industry at the European level. These European data centers are fragmented and have the potential to grow further with significant investments in IoT and AI Technologies. It is anticipated to upsurge the market for data monetization.
  • In 2020, Siemens launched a new cloud-based platform called "Mindsphere World" to facilitate data exchange and monetization in the manufacturing sector. The platform offers a secure and scalable infrastructure for storing, analyzing, and sharing manufacturing data, leading to improved efficiency, reduced costs, and increased revenue.
