Pumped Hydroelectric Storage (PHS) is a form of hydro power that uses the energy of falling water to generate electricity. It works by using two reservoirs of water at different elevations, with a turbine and generator located between them. Water is pumped from the lower reservoir to the higher one when electricity demand is low, and then released back down to the lower reservoir when demand is high. This process generates electricity as the water passes through the turbine. PHS is a cost-effective and reliable form of energy storage, and is often used to balance out fluctuations in electricity demand. It is also a renewable energy source, as the water is simply recycled between the two reservoirs.
Some companies in the Pumped Hydroelectric Storage market include Voith Hydro, Andritz Hydro, GE Renewable Energy, and Alstom. Show Less Read more
