The uranium supply market is an important part of the nuclear power industry. It is the source of the uranium fuel used in nuclear reactors to generate electricity. The uranium supply market is composed of uranium mining companies, uranium conversion and enrichment companies, and nuclear fuel suppliers. Uranium mining companies extract uranium ore from the ground and process it into uranium concentrate, also known as yellowcake. Uranium conversion and enrichment companies then convert the yellowcake into uranium hexafluoride gas, which is enriched to the desired level of uranium-235. Finally, nuclear fuel suppliers fabricate the enriched uranium hexafluoride into fuel assemblies for use in nuclear reactors.
Companies in the uranium supply market include Cameco Corporation, Kazatomprom, Rio Tinto, and AREVA. Show Less Read more
